Sarig didn't have long to live
She was only 55 years old
the cancer started in her left breast
spread to her bones
and within a year
her whole body was invaded
given the pain she had
I imagined the cancer
breaking and eating away her bones
piece by piece
Her body wishing to disappear
and melting down into the mattress
that held her light weight
Her eyes, head, and chest
feeling the ugly presence
of the tumors that turned her beauty
into shame
She was brave
suddenly she became exhausted
then
she understood
and finally allowed her enemy
to take control
until the day
she no longer breathed
quickly this news arrived
